Aesthetic Dental Care — FAQ

Travel & Logistics

Is the entire team at Aesthetic Dental Care fluent in English and Spanish?

Yes, completely. All consultations, treatment planning sessions, surgical briefings, and post-operative instructions at Aesthetic Dental Care are available in both English and Spanish. Every member of our clinical and concierge team is fully bilingual, so you will never need a translator or feel lost during any stage of your care — from your first virtual consultation to your final appointment.

Aesthetic Dental Care is located in Escazú, San José, inside Hospital Internacional CIMA — Tower 2, 4th floor, offices 421, 423, and 425. We are just a 20-minute drive from Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) and within walking distance of Multiplaza Escazú, making our location extremely convenient for international patients.

The implant process is completed across two separate trips. Your first trip requires 7 to 10 business days and covers your full diagnostic assessment, implant surgery, and placement of your temporary fixed teeth — so you leave with a functional, beautiful smile. After a 4-month healing period at home while the implants fuse with your bone, you return for a second trip of 5 to 7 business days to receive your final permanent restorations.

Yes. Complimentary private airport pickup and drop-off from SJO is included for patients staying at our partner hotels. We also coordinate private daily shuttles between your hotel and the clinic for every appointment throughout your stay, ensuring your transit is safe, punctual, and completely stress-free.

Yes. Costa Rica is consistently ranked as one of the safest, most politically stable, and tourist-friendly destinations in Latin America. Aesthetic Dental Care strictly adheres to and exceeds international sterilization, biosafety, and clinical protocols established by the ADA (American Dental Association) and OSHA. Our board-certified specialists regularly train in the United States and Europe, and our facility is equipped with the same technology and materials used in leading clinics in North America.

Pricing & Payments

How much do dental implants cost in Costa Rica compared to the US or Canada?

Patients traveling to Aesthetic Dental Care routinely save between 50% and 70% on dental implants and full-mouth reconstructions compared to standard private practices in the US and Canada. These significant savings are the result of lower operational costs in Costa Rica — not lower standards. We use the exact same FDA-approved, globally recognized implant systems and prosthetic materials as leading clinics in North America, at a fraction of the price.

Our individual unit pricing:

  •   Dental implant: USD 875
  •   Crown over implant: USD 875

Your personalized quote is comprehensive and fully itemized. It covers your surgical fees, implants, provisional fixed teeth, advanced 3D diagnostics (CT scans and X-rays), and your final definitive prosthesis. That said, some cases may involve additional costs depending on your specific clinical needs:

  •   IV Sedation (recommended for complex cases): USD 1,000
  •   Bone graft (if required): USD 600
  •   Medications: approx. USD 120–150
  •   Material upgrades (e.g., Zirconia instead of Hybrid prosthesis): price varies

All potential additional costs are discussed and agreed upon transparently during your virtual consultation — you will never encounter a surprise charge upon arriving at our clinic.

Yes. A USD 500 deposit is required to confirm your appointment and reserve your IV sedation slot if applicable. This deposit is applied toward your total treatment balance and ensures your surgical date and clinical team are fully reserved for your arrival.

Warranty & Trust

Do treatments at Aesthetic Dental Care come with a warranty?

Yes. All treatments at Aesthetic Dental Care are backed by a comprehensive written warranty. Full details are shared with you before your arrival and signed in person at the clinic alongside your Health History form.

We exclusively work with world-renowned, FDA-approved implant systems — primarily Straumann, Nobel Biocare, and Zimmer Biomet. These are the same brands used by leading specialists in the United States and Canada. This matters for international patients because it means any qualified prosthodontist or dentist back home will be able to recognize, service, and work with your implants without any compatibility issues.

Yes, without exception. At Aesthetic Dental Care we use exclusively premium, globally certified dental materials — the same ones available in top clinics in the United States. Our porcelain veneers and crowns are fabricated using high-strength lithium disilicate (E.max) and Zirconia, materials known for their durability, natural light translucency, and long-term resistance to chipping and staining. Lower costs in Costa Rica reflect our operational environment, never our material standards.

Sedation & Comfort

Is dental implant surgery painful?

No. Patient comfort is our absolute priority. All implant procedures are performed under deep local anesthesia, ensuring you feel absolutely nothing during the surgery. For full-arch reconstructions or patients with dental anxiety, we also offer conscious IV sedation, which places you in a deeply relaxed, twilight state throughout the entire procedure. Most patients are genuinely surprised by how comfortable and stress-free the experience is

IV sedation at Aesthetic Dental Care is administered and monitored by a certified medical anesthesiologist, not a dentist. This is an important distinction that reflects our commitment to the highest standards of patient safety. Having a dedicated anesthesiology professional present throughout your procedure means your vital signs, sedation depth, and overall wellbeing are continuously monitored by a specialist whose sole focus is your comfort and safety.

Post-Op & Recovery

How soon after surgery can I fly back home?

For standard implant surgery or extractions, most patients are comfortable flying home within 3 to 5 days after their procedure. For more complex full-arch cases such as All-on-4 or All-on-6, we generally recommend staying at least 7 days before flying to allow for proper initial healing and a post-operative follow-up appointment. Your doctor will give you a personalized clearance recommendation based on your specific case.

Our team does not disappear once you board your flight home. We proactively follow up with all patients after treatment to monitor recovery and address any questions remotely. If at any point something feels uncomfortable, unusual, or concerning, you can reach us directly via WhatsApp or email and our clinical team will evaluate your situation promptly. If an in-person assessment is needed, we will help coordinate with a trusted local dental professional in your area while we determine the best next steps together.

Geo

Is Aesthetic Dental Care in San José or Escazú, and how close is it to the Hyatt and Multiplaza?

Aesthetic Dental Care is located in Escazú, San José, inside Hospital Internacional CIMA — Tower 2, 4th floor, offices 421, 423, and 425. We are within walking distance of both the Hyatt Escazú and Multiplaza Escazú, two of the most recognized landmarks in the area. This puts you in the heart of one of San José’s safest, most modern, and most well-connected districts, with easy access to hotels, restaurants, pharmacies, and shopping — everything you need for a comfortable recovery stay.

Yes. Being located inside Hospital Internacional CIMA and steps away from Multiplaza Escazú means you have immediate access to a wide variety of dining options, international supermarkets, and fully stocked pharmacies — all within walking distance or a very short drive. Our concierge team is also happy to recommend specific soft-food friendly restaurants and delivery options that are ideal for post-operative recovery days.

Yes, regularly. A significant portion of our international patient base travels from major US cities including Miami, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago, California, as well as from Canada. Many of our patients from these cities are drawn by the combination of world-class dental care, significant cost savings of 50% to 70% compared to US pricing, and the opportunity to recover in one of Latin America’s most beautiful and welcoming countries. Direct flights from most major US cities to San José (SJO) are widely available and typically range from 3 to 6 hours.

Each destination has its merits, but San José and specifically the Escazú district offer a combination of factors that are difficult to match. Costa Rica is one of the most politically stable and safest countries in Latin America, with a long history of democratic governance and investment in healthcare and education. Hospital Internacional CIMA, where Aesthetic Dental Care is located, is the only Joint Commission International accredited hospital in Central America, placing it on par with leading medical facilities in the United States. Additionally, Costa Rica’s proximity to major US cities, its English-friendly environment, and its world-renowned natural tourism offerings make it an ideal destination for patients who want to combine exceptional dental care with a truly memorable travel experience.
